County Approves Increased Bandwidth Due to Increased Usage Demand

LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton County Commissioners held a brief, virtual special meeting on Thursday to approve a temporary bandwidth upgrade. The agreement is with Comcast Business for the bandwidth upgrade at an additional cost of $915.04 per month for three months.

County board chairman Miles Kessinger said because of COVID-19, the county court system has been doing more remote hearings and problems have been experienced in conducting them online. With the commissioners’ Thursday approval, Kessinger said the system should be improved within 24 hours.

Court administrator Don Powers said there could be a grant program available to cover some or all of the agreement costs. Commissioner Angela Harding offered a “shout-out” to the county’s IT department, lauding its work in light of the increased online workload within a number of county departments.

The commissioners noted next week’s work session will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 9 a.m. as the regular work session date falls on Monday, Memorial Day.
