UPMC – Lock Haven Hospital Acquisition Marked with Flag-Raising

LOCK HAVEN – It has been 13 months since Pittsburgh-based UPMC acquired Williamsport-based Susquehanna Health and one month since UPMC’s acquisition of Lock Haven Hospital became official.
Officials from the resulting UPMC Susquehanna came to Lock Haven Wednesday to formally recognize the acquisition of the Lock Haven Hospital which this year is observing its 120th anniversary. UPMC Susquehanna President Steve Johnson and UPMC Susquehanna Vice President of Clinton County Operations Ron Reynolds raised a UPMC flag to mark the event which included multiple system officials who pledged to deliver UPMC’s “world class care” to Lock Haven. Johnson promised care with a “focus on convenience and affordability.”

In a media sit-down that followed, Reynolds said the relocation of Haven Medical Center from its Church Street, Lock Haven location to a renovated facility in the former Bald Eagle Courts in Wayne Township is to be completed by Jan. 1. He said the new set-up will provide multi-specialty space for rotation of different physician specialties in addition to present family practice care.

As for the future of Lock Haven Hospital, he said UPMC will be involved in a 90 day review to assess strengths in collaboration with the present medical staff, to make sure “the right services are in the right place.” He said an update should be available after the first of the year. The UPMC officials also talked of providing services for seniors in the community and noted a collaborative effort with the adjacent county-owned Susqueview Home.
