Seals’ Leiby Spoils Wildcat Senior Night, 40-3

cm-footballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain football team said goodbye to 17 Wildcat seniors as part of Friday’s Senior Night. But it was a visiting senior, Selinsgrove quarterback Logan Leiby, who stole the show.

The much heralded Seal more than lived up to his billing, completing 29 of 36 passes for 463 yards and five touchdowns in pacing Selinsgrove to a 40-3 win over the game but overmatched Wildcats.

Leiby played the entire game for the 7-1 Seals, two of his five scoring strikes coming in the final quarter. The game was all but decided in the first quarter as Selinsgrove on its first three possessions had touchdown drives of 74, 75 and 64 yards, the score 21-0 after one. Central Mountain would get its first and only score late in the second quarter, a 38-yard field goal from Austyn Carson.

But Selinsgrove shut down the Central Mountain offense in the second half, allowing no points and not giving up a first down until late in the final quarter. Quarterback Carson finished 10-of-19 passing for 78 yards and Tanner Weaver led the Wildcat rushers with 43 yards on 14 carries. The Wildcats did pick off two Leiby passes, interceptions from Seth Andrus and Trevor Hanna.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 1-7 and a trip to Hollidaysburg (5-3) next Friday, Oct. 20. The Golden Tigers downed Tyrone by a 38-7 score. The Wildcats will finish up Friday, Oct. 27 at Jersey Shore (5-3); the Bulldogs shut out Shamokin 32-0.

Other Friday night scores included: Muncy 52, Bucktail 12; Bald Eagle 25, Clearfield 22; Bellefonte 49, Central 22.
