bucks-baseballFARWELL – The 2014 Bucktail Baseball team will have more experience this season than in the last five years.

There are thirteen returning lettermen led by five seniors:  Chuck Probst, Tony Saltsman, Trent Risley, Brad Kile and Christan Spencer. Also a large class of juniors: Aaron Ransdorf, Collin Burrows, Kevin Probst, Brandon Payne, Blake Gavlock and Johnathan Probst. Sophomores Derrick Long and Ryan Prebble finishes out the returnees. Senior Dalton Louey and freshman Richard Probst finish out the fifteen player roster for Coach Bill Probst.

Coach Probst is going to ride the pitching arm of Chuck Probst as far as he can take the Bucks into the season; he will then turn the ball over to Saltsman, Risley, Ransdorf or Burrows for at least two to four innings during a game.

Chuck Probst is a good tough pitcher, especially when his curve and change-up are on.  He has been clocked with an 85 mph fastball.

The infield will consist of Saltsman and Burrows at 1st base; Long and Kevin Probst at 2nd base; Chuck Probst and Risley at shortstop. 3rd Base will see Spencer and Ransdorf with Kevin Probst and Prebble behind the plate. Of course it’s going to be dependent as to who is on the mound. All of these players in the infield can also be moved to other bases throughout the game.

The rest of the players are going to cover the outfield with Ransdorf from the infield going out to the large green area.

The Bucks have been looking good in the batting cage. Practicing inside cannot tell you the truth about your ball club and coach Probst knows that. It has been a bad pre-season for getting outside onto the field; the Bucks did not see the field until this past Tuesday.

Weather still does not look good for any more time on the field as the Bucks are scheduled to open up on Monday March 24 at Sayre with a 4 p.m. first pitch.
