CLARKSBURG, WV — The Representative Counsel with the United Gas Workers Union Local 69 has rejected a tentative contract accord with Dominion Transmission Inc.

The counsel posted the notification on its Facebook page today, stating it has voted “not to take the August 26 tentative agreement out for vote to the membership.”

The counsel release said Dominion was informed of the decision and the union leadership “clearly indicated our willingness to continue negotiating going forth.” The statement said its “hope is to return to the table and bargain a fair contract.”

Some 50 to 60 Local 69 union employees in the Tamarack/Renovo area have continued to work under terms of a contract that expired April l of this year. There had been an earlier round of talks July 15 and a union release at that time said its membership of 950 across six states voted down that offer by a 766 to 75 margin. Based on today’s union leadership release, there will be no membership vote on the tentative accord of August 26.
