cm-wrestlingLANCASTER – It would seem the Wildcat motto on the day was “All or Nothing” … When faced with a defeat to their credit in the winner’s bracket, almost all of Central Mountain’s lineup answered that defeat by pinning their first (or more) opponents in the consolation rounds.

This effort has resulted in CM maintaining their hold on second place in the team standings and have three wrestlers still alive for tomorrow’s championship semifinal round … and five more still working hard in the consolation rounds.

Geo Barzona made quick work of his duties in the quarterfinals by dispatching Kurt Smith of New Oxford with a pin in 3:20. Barzona will face Jacob Wagner of Huntingdon in the semis.

Likewise, Isaac Porter made quick work of his time on the Resilite, pinning Conestoga Valley’s Thomas Weidman in 1:21 to advance. Porter will next be challenged by Seth Egolf of Waynesboro.

Hunter Weaver has become accustomed to earning falls as well by decking Brandon Luts of Westfield in 4:27 to make the semifinals in the championship round. Weaver will meet Micah Sidorick of Philipsburg-Osceola in the morning.

In the consy rounds, Logan Long has collected three pins on the day. Tanner Weaver amassed two pins and a major while Brandon Miller busy collecting three more pins for the Wildcats.

Not to be outdone in the effort of collecting a few bonus points, Bryce Bitner, after losing a tough 1-0 decision in the championship quarterfinals, he responded by pinning Father Judge’s Dean Wakeman in 0:50.

The accumulation of those bonus points wherever the Wildcats can find them have paid high dividends in the team race. Central Mountain is holding in the No. 2 spot with 108.0 points behind first place, Exeter with 119.0 points who has nine wrestlers still in the championship bracket and one in the wrestle backs.

Other District 6 teams in the hunt are Huntingdon in third place with 95.5; Bellefonte in sixth place with 87.5 and Philipsburg-Osceola is in eleventh place with 62.5 points.
