South Renovo Man Sentenced in April Attack on Neighbors

from staff reports

LOCK HAVEN—An elderly South Renovo man who had pleaded guilty in an April 26 shooting/stabbing incident has been sentenced to 21 to 42 years in state prison.

Clinton County President Judge Craig Miller imposed the sentence Monday on Edward Steptoe Andrews, 73.

Andrews had been charged with two counts of attempted homicide among a total of 17 charges stemming from the late April incident that startled neighbors along Susquehanna Avenue in South Renovo.

District Attorney Michael Salisbury said the sentence for Andrews, given his age, would give the victims “some peace of mind” that they would be safe.

Andrews has been in the Clinton County Correctional Facility since his arrest after he crashed his truck on Beech Creek Mountain following the incident.

Authorities said Andrews’ elderly neighbor, Alma Antram, 72, was the victim in the shooting; additionally Andrews had been charged with stabbing her 41-year-old son Douglas when he attempted to intervene.

Both victims had been transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of their injuries, Mrs. Antram the more seriously injured.

The Court Monday also directed that Andrews make restitution for the balance of the Antrams’ medical bills, some $126,000.
