Lady Bucks Romp Over CMVT 60-27

FARWELL – The Lady Bucks celebrated Senior Night with a 60-27 drubbing of Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

After the six seniors, Shae Cowfer, Maria Morgan, Natasha Peck, Abby Ransom, Alaina Tripp and Tiffany Wert, were honored for their contributions to Bucktail Basketball … the Lady Bucks proceeded to build a 21-0 run before the visiting Lady Rams could even muster a single point.

Bucktail spread the offensive wealth evenly with Morgan and Cowfer dishing the ball to open teammates that allowed Ransom, Tripp and Wert to score effortlessly.

CMVT played hard, though they struggled offensively failing to break double digits until the third period.

Bucktail coach, Carl Gentzyel took advantage of the situation to get as much playing time for his bench as possible while keeping his starters fresh and focused as they prepare for a run at the District 4 playoffs.

Maria Morgan and Tiffany Werts led the Lady Bucks with 21 and 14 points respectively. Followed by Abby Ransom with 9, Alaina Trip scoring 8 and Shae Cowfer contributing 4 points. Emily Mills and Maria D’Onofrio each added 2 points.

With the overwhelming lead at the break, the second half was under the mercy rule. Gentzyel used that half to finesse the passing game and work on strategy. Most of Bucktail’s scoring came very early in the contest.

The Lady Bucks destiny is in their own hands. Bucktail will travel to Northern Potter Saturday and then host make-up games with Austin on Wednesday and rival Montgomery on Thursday. If the Lady Bucks can continue their streak and win-out the regular season, they will earn a home first round playoff game.
