cm-footballCATAWISSA – The final score was about as predicted for the first-ever contest between Central Mountain and Southern Columbia with the hosts prevailing 55-13.

The Tigers took advantage of some special teams opportunities reaching near or into the end zone on multiple punt returns. Southern Columbia also had little trouble in the first half taking advantage of great field position to secure short drives for additional scores.

Then in the second half when Southern Columbia was utilizing their second string, Central Mountain found their stride and a bit of momentum of their own.

Hunter Weaver who struggled in the first half for positive yards made good use of the seams the offensive line was able to open in the second half. Weaver amassed 142 yards on 37 carries, striking pay dirt for a TD on one of those carries. Justin Neff added 31 yards rushing on 11 carries to round out the Wildcats 173 yards on the ground for the evening.

Through the air, quarterback Bryce Bitner was only 2-for-7, though one of those passes was to J.J. Harris for a 56 yard TD.

Placekicker, Katheryn Myers was 1-for-1 making her first kick of the evening, while the Tigers were able to block her second attempt.

Next week the Wildcats will host the undefeated Jersey Shore Bulldogs at Malinak Stadium for senior night. The Dawgs posted a 33-0 shutout over Bald Eagle Area tonight.
