cm-footballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — The Lock Haven/Mill Hall area has sent its share of “preferred walk-ons” to the Penn State football program and all have done well. It started with Lock Haven High School kicker Travis Forney two decades ago, continued with Central Mountain’s Robbie Gould earlier this century and for the last four years with current Penn State captain Von Walker.

Now you can add the Wildcats’ do-everything star Justin Neff to the list. Neff today told therecord-online he has decided to accept an opportunity to be a preferred walk-on with the Nittany Lions.

Neff accounted for some two-thirds of the Central Mountain offense this past season, excelling at everything from quarterback to slotback to wideout to defensive safety to kick-off and punt returner. He also led the Wildcats in tackles. He most recently was named to the Heartland Conference Division I all-star team as a safety. He was a 4-year letterman at Central Mountain and was so exceptional at kick returns (some 10 for touchdowns during his career) that most opposing teams elected to kick away from him or go to onside kicks to avoid his chance at a run-back.
