New Store Expected to be Ready Late Fall 2016

LOCK HAVEN — “We’re here today to get it done,” exclaimed Dan Wallace, representing the developer for a new CVS pharmacy at the corner of Bellefonte Avenue and Commerce St.

Wallace, from Camp Hill developer J.C. Bar, spoke today as dignitaries carried out the groundbreaking for the new facility, ending a protracted effort to get the site leveled and developed. Wallace promised a stepped up process aimed with completion by late fall.

He said site preparation work will begin as soon as next week with demolition of the old structures underway by the end of May. Wallace praised the cooperation received from Lock Haven officials and the Department of Environmental Protection. City Mayor Bill Baney talked about the long effort to remove “this blighted spot.”

Participants in the groundbreaking included local attorney Lee Roberts, representing his son Jason Roberts, owner of the former Lock Haven Laundry site at 309 Bellefonte Avenue. There were no representatives present from the Robert Rosemeier family, owners of the 311 to 315 Bellefonte Avenue portion of the nearly three acres to be developed.

The development had been delayed in Clinton County Court after Rosemeier had brought in local businessman Stephen Poorman and sought to increase the previously agreed to $900,000 sales price to $1.1 million. After the court proceeding directed a sale at the original price the Rosemeiers accepted the $900,000; Roberts received $600,000 for his share.

CVS said its new store will feature “best-in-class” pharmacy services among other offerings, including “an expanded assortment of ‘better-for-you’ grocery and snack options.”
