I-80 Crash Claims Life

LOGANTON — A motorist lost his life in a one-vehicle accident along Interstate 80 in Greene Township this morning.

State police identified the victim as Christopher Loren Dixon, 22, from Dalton, PA but most recently residing in State College.

The police report said they received a call at 7 a.m. for a report of a vehicle over the embankment near mile marker 180 off the westbound lanes. Police said they found a 2003 Jeep in thick vegetation and high weeds; the operator had been ejected and located some 25 feet from the vehicle.

The police investigation determined Dixon lost control of his vehicle; as it left the roadway it went airborne, police said, then overturned two to three times, ejecting the operator. The vehicle came to rest approximately 125 feet from the initial impact. Police said the driver would have succumbed to his injuries due to multiple traumatic impacts. The Clinton County Coroner’s office assisted at the scene.
