psu-footballUNIVERSITY PARK—Central Mountain graduate Von Walker has caught the eye of the Penn State coaching staff based on his performance in spring ball which concluded with Saturday’s Blue-White Game.

Walker started at outside linebacker for the White team which fell to the Blue squad by a 17-7 score. The junior-to-be was credited with three tackles and a breakup of a Christian Hackenberg pass as the first half came to an end.

After the game Nittany Lion defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said Walker had an exceptional spring. “Von Walker is, arguably, the most improved player on the defensive side of the ball.”

Walker, a two-year letter-winner, had been switched to linebacker in spring ball a year ago after earlier stints as a running back and a safety. He was a record-breaking two-way starter at Central Mountain High School and walked on at Penn State. Saturday’s game day roster listed him at 5-11 and 213 pounds.
