LOCK HAVEN – Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna has confirmed that a body found Saturday in the Halls Run area of Noyes Township was that of Kelley Jo Sndyer, the Renovo woman who disappeared from her Fourth Street home on Easter Sunday. The cause and manner of death, he said, remain undetermined at this time.

A release from Hanna’s office said an autopsy was completed Sunday by a forensic pathologist in Windber: “The autopsy did confirm the identity of the body to be that of Kelley Jo Snyder, 34 of Renovo. The cause and manner of death are currently pending the results of toxicology testing. We will issue a final cause and manner of death when toxicology testing is completed.”

The coroner’s release said his office would not be entertaining any additional questions.

The autopsy results confirm what state police had indicated: the body found was that of Mrs. Snyder, wife of William “B.J.” Snyder who remains in the Clinton County Correctional Facility in McElhattan, charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. Snyder had been taken into custody Friday in New York State’s Southern Tier after departing Renovo in the wake of what he had told police was the kidnapping of his wife.

According to a state police affidavit, he later told them that he had taken his wife’s body and disposed of it outside Renovo and said a ransom note relative to any kidnapping was a hoax. Snyder is in prison in default of $500,000 bail while the law enforcement investigation continues.
