Foundation helps support Ross Library building and programs

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Annie Halenbake Ross Library was in dire need of a new flat roof over an older section of the building that houses its primary book collection. The Clinton County Community Foundation helped come to the rescue, approving a $10,000 competitive grant application for 2023. A portion of the roof over a section added in 1964 was leaking for some time. Tammy Garrison, library executive director, had been trying to get repairs done but ran into hurdles with costs last year. It all came together this year. Additional funds were provided by a Community Development Block grant via the City of Lock Haven, a Keystone Library grant and library funds. The work didn’t come, however, until after a Sept. 7 storm caused some damage, but the Library did hold its annual book sale recently. Shown on the roof prior to the replacement are, from left, Abigail Roberts, City of Lock Haven planner; Barbara Williams, assistant library director; Darlene Weaver, Foundation treasurer; Garrison; Allan Lugg Jr., Foundation board president; and Rev. Don Grant, Foundation secretary. All told, the Foundation approved just over $15,000 via four grant applications from the Ross Library in support of its buildings and county-wide services to patrons.
