Keystone 10s take state tourney opener
POCONO PINES, PA – Off for five days after winning the Section 3 title, the Keystone 10-year-old all=stars showed no ill effects in their Tuesday opener at the Pennsylvania Little League championships. They pulled away late to post an 8-1 win over Abington.
Keystone put up two runs in the first, Abington with one in the third. Keystone made it 3-1 with a run in the fifth and broke things open with five in the top of the sixth to earn a berth in a Wednesday afternoon winners’ bracket semifinal, that game to be played in Stroudsburg.
Rylan Bathurst led an 8-hit attack with a single, double and three RBIs. Deagen Stover had two singles, as did Carter Leone; Giovanni Cej and Ryker Packech each with an RBI single
Adam Meyer, Dylan McDermott and Leone shared the mound chores, combining for a 6-hitter, giving up one run, striking out eight and walking two.
