Dunnstable Township couple who failed to appear for sentencing picked up in North Carolina
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The office of Clinton County Sheriff Kerry Stover reported Monday that husband and wife, William and Candy Jo Laubscher, were taken into custody Friday night in Gaston County, North Carolina. Their apprehension came after both failed to appear last Tuesday for sentencing in Clinton County Court on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault.
Sheriff Stover said law enforcement in Gaston assisted with the search and took them into custody without incident Friday evening. He said they will need to waive extradition in North Carolina and his office will then make arrangements for their return to Pennsylvania.
The Laubschers, Dunnstable Township residents, were convicted in early June following a jury trial prosecuted by District Attorney Dave Strouse. The jury took approximately 90 minutes to return guilty verdicts on the Laubschers at their joint trial. Both Laubschers were convicted of terroristic threats and simple assault while Candy was also convicted of a firearms violation.
