Philadelphia truck driver victim in fatal Centre County I-80 crash
BOGGS TOWNSHIP, PA – Rockview state police have released details on a July 13 tractor-trailer accident in which a Philadelphia rig operator lost his life.
Police said the victim, Ilkhom Khusainov, 41, had pulled his rig off Interstate 80 westbound at mile-marker 153.9 in Boggs Township, the rig partially parked on the right lane. The driver was outside the vehicle when a second rig, operated by Volodymyr Shalay, 34, of Park Ridge, Ill, hit the rear and then the side of the pulled-over rig, striking Khusainov who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Police said Shalay had been trailing another tractor-trailer which had pulled around the Khusainov rig and failed to observe the stopped rig. Time of the accident was 6:32 p.m.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Bellefonte fire department, Bellefonte EMS, Milesburg Fire Department and Fire Police, PennDOT and Eagle Towing.
