Community market planned for Saturday

RENOVO, PA – For the first time in years a community market will be setting up shop on Saturday, July 15 along Erie Avenue.

“I was very excited to see what Vinnie did at Good Neighbor Craft House over the weekend with Bands in the Bend and I want this to have a similar vibe,” said organizer and property owner Greg Zembower.

Zembower and his investments partners, who recently purchased a couple properties along Erie Avenue, has been a force the past few months for driving a vision of increasing tourism. He wants to publicly showcase the little boroughs’ community pride to attract locals and tourists alike.

“Please reach out to those in the community whether it be neighbors in town or local businesses in the area. I would like to get as much participation as possible. I will be working to get the word out as well,” Greg said in a recent Facebook post.

The event, which is fee-free for those looking to sell goods and wares, hasn’t been without the normal ups and downs of event planning.

“I was told that I cannot have food trucks or food prepared on-site, so I am getting an understanding of what the borough ordinances are, but I am looking forward to going to a borough meeting soon to talk more through the planning of the event,” Greg said.

Greg’s goal is to have one of these events at least monthly if the participation is there, “but for now, we will start with July 15 and go on from there,” he said. “I want as many vendors there as possible.”

Event hours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all individuals are responsible for their own items and any risks associated with participating. “I ask that you make sure your space is cleaned up after the event,” Greg said.
Greg is also looking for a free, local musician or two to play during the event for the crowds simply for promotional purposes of the musician.

Recently, a picnic table was built for Zembower’s other property located at 706 Erie Avenue. “It was built for that location by local craftsman George Costulas, and I encourage craftsmen like George to attend the market to show examples of what they can do.”

To get involved with the community market or for general questions, please reach out to Greg Zembower either through Facebook Messenger or through his email address BetterCallZem@gmail.com.

“I would like to coordinate this inaugural event with the Renovo Heritage Park’s Summer 2023 Concert and Event Series which will be having a movie night on the evening of the 15th,” Greg said, “so I really want to thank the Community Foundation and Heritage Park for making the concert series a reality again this year.”

Indeed there is a full-days worth of events planned for the Renovo area on July 15.

Please note: this event is a “good weather event only.” There is no covering if it rains, so the event will not take place if it is raining.
