Keystone Seniors open playoffs with 12-4 win over Montoursville
BLANCHARD, PA – The Keystone Senior Little League All-Stars opened District 12 play with a 12-4 win over visiting Montoursville Tuesday evening in Blanchard.
Keystone put up two runs in the first and added four more in the second and never looked back, cruising to the win behind a combined 5-hitter from pitchers Donovan Seyler, Dane Hanna and Aiden Jones. Both Hanna and Jones went three innings each as the three hurlers combined for nine strikeouts while allowing two walks.
Meanwhile the Keystone offense pounded out 12 hits, including six for extra bases. Blake Walker paced the attack with a 3-for-4 game, including a double; he also scored two runs and knocked in five. Jones had two doubles and two RBIs, Darius Shade had two doubles and an RBI, Cole Cooper with two hits including a double and an RBI. Singles came from Nolan Cross, Layden Bryan and Griffin Kerstetter.
With the win Keystone advances to a Friday 6 p.m. game at Loyalsock. There are only three teams in the senior division.
Many of this year’s Keystone squad were members of the 2022 Keystone Junior team which won district, sectional, state and regional honors.
