Avis man arrested on drug charges
AVIS, PA – Authorities have posted word on the mid-June arrest of an Avis resident on multiple drug-related charges.
On June 13, state parole agents contacted the Pine Creek Township Police Department after agents allegedly located items related to illegal drug use while doing an inspection of the residence of Gilbert Stevenson, 49, of 411 West Martin Street, Avis.
Authorities said Stevenson was living on that property in a camping trailer to the rear of the residence. Based on the information provided, police applied for a search warrant for the property. As a result of the search warrant, Stevenson was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Police said they located approximately four ounces of methamphetamine, a large amount of packaging material used to package and sell controlled substances, a scale used to weigh the drugs prior to the sale along with numerous pipes used to smoke the controlled substance and a large sum of money sorted and packaged consistent with drug sales.
Pine Creek Township Police were assisted by PA State Parole Agents, Lock Haven City Police, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Bureau of Narcotics Investigation along with Officers from the Clinton County OAG East Drug Task Force. On June 14, 2023, Gilbert Stevenson was arraigned on the charges by Magisterial District Judge Keith Kibler and bail was set at $100,000.00 monetary and Stevenson was unable to post bail and was committed to the Clinton County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 26, 2023 at 8:30 AM.
