Cameron County D-A back at work after Wednesday shooting
EMPORIUM, PA – Cameron County District Attorney Paul Malizia was back in his Emporium office on Thursday after a harrowing incident Wednesday in that same Main Street office. According to Emporium radio station WLEM, a woman has been charged with shooting the district attorney at his law office in downtown Emporium.
The radio station reported that 31-year-old Porice Mincy recently moved to Emporium from Staten Island, New York. Police reports say Mincy arrived at the law office without an appointment and refused to leave. She is accused of throwing items and a secretary at the office called 9-1-1.
During the altercation, Mincy allegedly punched the district attorney in the face. During a scuffle where, authorities said Malizia admitted to trying to drag the woman by the hair and holding her arms behind her, Mincy allegedly bit Malizia and then shot him in the right thigh.
Mincy told police she went to the office to get a $1,000 deposit returned regarding a house she recently purchased in the borough. A search of the woman’s home turned up a gun believed to have been used in the incident, police said. Mincy is in jail without bail.
Malizia later posted word thanking the community for its concern and wrote, “I am well and will continue to serve as the Cameron County District Attorney.”
