Woolrich Woolen Mills building contents on auction block

WOOLRICH, PA – While the Woolrich Store is in the process of liquidating its contents and closing down (see related record-online story) comes word that “manufacturing support equipment” inside the now closed Woolrich Woolen Mill is on the auction block.
The timed online auction for mill contents is being carried out by A. J. Willner Auctions of Riverdale, NJ. Bidding will end on Monday, May 22 at 11 a.m., according to details on the auction found at the Willner site:

The Wednesday word of the auction comes nearly five years after Woolrich announced it would end production at the mill at the end of 2018.

The nearly two century Rich family business had been sold in September of 2018 for the second time in two years, most recently to a Luxembourg-based investment company. A fashion publication at the time said that sale meant that the Rich family, which founded the brand in 1830 and most recently had been a minority investor, would completely exit the company after seven generations of ownership.

The manufacturing building is not included in the auction and is for sale.
