Charlene M. Cella

Obituary

Charlene M. Cella, 72, of Loganton, passed away at her home after a courageous, 12-year battle with cancer. She was born on June 7, 1950, to parents Rockey and Betty (Hartzel) Homler in Jersey Shore. Charlene was a 1968 graduate of Jersey Shore Area Senior High School.

In June, she and Craig A. Cella would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. She is also survived by two sons, Matthew (Tammy) Cella and Mark (Alethea) Cella, both living on the family farm in Loganton. She was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren, Jacob, Connor and Callie. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Jane (Gordie) Rhinehart and Ann (John) Haussener; as well as her many nieces and nephews. Charlene’s main priority in life was her family.

She was an excellent cook and baker. She made everything from scratch and canned her fruits and home-grown vegetables. Her meals will be missed as her table was always open to everyone. She loved her flower gardens, and the farm was beautifully landscaped. She was also the Clinton County Herb Chairperson for many years as well as a member of the Clinton County Herb Guild.

She and her husband raised Polled Herefords as well as running a commercial turkey business selling their turkeys to Butterball. She and Craig were 4-H leaders for many years. They were also beekeepers and led the Clinton County Bee Association where Charlene hosted many picnics. She was known to many as the Honey Lady as she sold their honey and her homemade lotions, lip balms and candles at craft shows. She also sold her honey and her homemade baked goods at Jersey Shore’s Farmer’s Market.

Her neighbors will miss her Christmas Eve celebrations with great food and caroling while she accompanied them on piano. Charlene was a devoted Christian, being a Sunday School teacher as well as chairing many years of Bible School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore.

Over the years she worked at the Jersey Shore State Bank as a teller, J. & T. Electric as an electrician’s helper and Sears in State College. Charlene was also Judge of Elections in Greene Township, Loganton, for many years.

Any contributions can be made in her name to Grace Lutheran Church in Jersey Shore.
