Obituary – Ruth Tressler

Ruth Tressler, 88, of Mill Hall, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on January 23, 1937, in Lock Haven, Ruth was a lifelong resident of the community she loved so dearly. She was the heart and soul of her family — a true matriarch whose warmth and strength guided generations. Ruth was known for her boundless love and the way she poured herself into the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her devotion was unwavering, and her presence was a constant comfort.

Ruth had a special gift for making everyone feel like family. She was a social butterfly who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them smiling. With her nurturing spirit and a kind of motherly magic, she quickly became “Mom” or “Gram” to so many beyond her own kin. Whether through a gentle hug, a listening ear, or a shared laugh, Ruth had a way of making people feel seen and loved.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, joy, and unconditional love. Her family will forever cherish the memories of holidays spent around her table, her warm laughter, and the way she always made each person feel like the most important one in the room.

Ruth’s greatest joy was her family, and her love for them knew no limits. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in every kind word, every shared smile, and every moment of family togetherness.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances E. Yost Heaton; a son, Charles Leroy Tressler; and four siblings.

On March 14, 1958 in Beech Creek, Ruth married Charles Samuel Tressler, who survives. She is also survived by three children, Raymond W. Tressler of Bellefonte, Joella E. (Jamie) Nearhood and Richard W. Tressler, both of Mill Hall; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruth’s beautiful life will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2 P.M at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 P.M. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ruth’s memory by showing love to those around you, making someone feel at home, or simply offering a warm smile to a stranger-just as she would have.
