CM girls with strong district showing; Bair again PIAA-bound

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The Central Mountain girls swimming team placed second overall as a team at the 2023 PIAA District 6 championships held Friday and Saturday on the Penn State campus.

Returning district champion and state qualifier, Camnryn Bair, is finding herself heading back to Bucknell for the state championships in the 50 freestyle. She secured second in both the 50 free (23.85) and 100 free (53.27) re-breaking her school records.

Another super star Wildcat was Ana Persun. She took 2nd in the 100 Fly (1:00.83) and 4th in the 200 free (2:01.43) also re-breaking her school records in both events. Lily McWilliams took 6th in the 50 free (28.06) and Maia Crowell took 7th with a (29.55). In the 100 free senior, Autumn Garman, took 7th (1:00.94) and Lily McWilliams took 8th (1:05.44).

The lone 500 freestyle swimmer, Abrianna Hosley, took 5th with a time of (5:53.09) and also taking 5th in the 100 back (1:07.00). Autumn Garmin taking 6th in a (1:10.87) in the last race of her senior season. In the 100 breast Maia Crowell took 6th (1:23.22). The relay team of Bair, Hosley, Garman, and Persun finished second in both the 200 and 400 free relays.

Next up PIAA State Championships at Bucknell University on March 17-18.
