CM boys swimming sets new school and personal bests at districts

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The Central Mountain boys swim team competed at the 2023 District 6 Championships on Friday and Saturday at Penn State’s McCoy Natatorium. Over the 2-day meet the Wildcats set a total of 13 personal best times.

Sophomore, Jonathan Hughes, broke Lesisher Gugino’s 100 Breaststroke school record in a new time of 1:01.25 and finished 2nd. Hughes also took 2nd in the 100 Fly in 56.55.

In the 50 Freestyle, the Wildcats had four swimmers competing. Arthur McGuire was 8th in 26.14, Owen Wunder 10th in 26.54, Rhys Swift 11th in 27.32, and Bryce Warren 12th in 27.39. Neil Kaluzny was the lone Wildcat to swim in the 100 Free finishing 7th in 55.69. In the 100 Back, Kaluzny was the top finisher for the Wildcats finishing 3rd in 1:03.41. Owen Wunder finished 5th in 1:07.00. The 200 Free Relay of Hughes, Warren, Swift, and Kaluzny finished 3rd. The 400 Free Relay team of Hughes, Wunder, Swift, and Kaluzny finished 4th.

Overall, the boys team finished third, State College taking the district crown..
