Retired teacher sponsors former student in Rotary
LOCK HAVEN, PA- Olyvea Welch became a member of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven Club recently.
Area Governor Diahann Claghorn sponsored her, 20 years after Olyvea was a student in her first grade classroom.
The new Rotarian is a chemist and lead analyst at Croda Inc. She recalled how her former teacher made science fun and interesting.
“After living in two different communities in two different states within the last year, I wanted to get involved any way that I could with the local communities,” she said. “When I made the decision to move back home to the Lock Haven area, I knew that I wanted to make a difference to the community, big or small, and give back as much as I can.”
The club meets Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., with a gathering time of 5:15 p.m., in Poorman Gallery, 352 E. Water St. For more information about Rotary and how to join, please send an email to dlhrotary@gmail.com or find Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven o Facebook.
