CM swimmers split Senior Night meet with Shamokin
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Central Mountain girls swim team notched another one in the win column defeating Shamokin 95-50 Wednesday night at home. The girls looked like they were on a mission after suffering their first loss on Tuesday against Bellefonte, 74-64.
The Lady Wildcats won all of the events Wednesday night. The girls got off to a fast start as the two girls medley relays finished 1st & 2nd. Abrianna Hosley and Maia Crowell went 1-2 in the 200 Free. Ana Persun won in the 200 IM. Camryn Bair finished 1st in the 50 Free to finish out the first half of the meet.
During the break, the Wildcats honored their senior swimmers. Autumn Garman was the only graduating female swimmer for the Wildcats. Autumn went on to win the 100 Free and the 100 Backstroke. Coach Scott Bair said, “Autumn has been so valuable to the success of this team over the last four seasons. She is very versatile and can swim all four strokes. We are going to miss her!”
After the senior recognition concluded, the Lady Cats continued to swim strong. Abrianna Hosley was victorious in the 100 Fly. Garman won the 100 Free and 100 Back. Persun won the 500 Free. The relay team of Bair, Hosley, Garman, and Persun won the 200 Free Relay. Maia Crowell finished first in the 100 Breaststroke. In the final event of the night, McWilliams, Sproat, Nestor, and Crowell won the 400 Free Relay. The girls are now 3-1 and will travel to Bucknell on Friday for a Tri-Meet with Lewisburg and Central Columbia.
Meanwhile the CM Boys Swim Team suffered a tough loss on Wednesday evening to visiting Shamokin 68-66; the loss followed a 74-64 loss to Bellefonte on Tuesday.
Jonathan Hughes picked up the first victory for the boys winning the 200 Free by 36 seconds.
At the intermission, the Wildcats trailed by one point. During intermission, the Wildcats recognized three seniors: Arthur McGuire, Dylan Russell, and Skylar Small. While Arthur is a veteran swimmer, Dylan and Skylar are both rookies.
Coach Bair said, “I want to thank Arthur, Skylar, and Dylan for their hard work and dedication to this team. Every point matters in swimming and all three have earned valuable points for this team. More importantly, all 3 are good kids!”
After the intermission, Jonathan Hughes earned another victory for the Wildcats winning the 100 Fly by 10 seconds. The boys 400 Free Relay of Swift, Warren, Russell, and McGuire finished the night off with a victory but falling two points short in the team race. The boys are now 1-2-1 and will travel to Bucknell on Friday night with a tri-meet with Lewisburg and Central Columbia.
