Perry finishes second, Simcox fourth at Powerade
CANONSBURG, PA – Central Mountain produced a runner-up and a fourth place in the 2022 Powerade tournament finishing up at Canon-McMillan High School on Friday. Sophomore Dalton Perry placed second at 133 pounds while teammate Luke Simcox, a junior, finished in fourth.
Perry, a defending state titlist, suffered his second loss of the season and only the fourth of his career when he was edged in his championship bout, 3-2, by Vincent Robinson of Homewood Flossmore, Ill.
Simcox ended in fourth after losing his consolation final by a score to 5-2 to Pierson Manville, a defending PIAA champion from State College. Manville earlier this month had edged Perry by a 1-0 score in the final at 139 pounds at the King of the Mountain tournament.
Central Mountain was in 14th place as the tourney was finishing up. Wyoming Seminary from Kingston, PA was running away with the team title.
The Wildcats’ other Friday participant, Rocco Serafini at 189 pounds, lost his sixth-round consolation bout to Brody Evans of Waynesburg by a 5-2 score. The CM junior went 3-2 in the rugged tournament.
The Wildcats will resume wrestling with a home dual on Thursday, Jan. 5 against Heartland Conference foe Selinsgrove.
