Lock Haven’s Fallon Alley upgrade work to start

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The first phase of planned improvements for Lock Haven’s Fallon Alley pedestrian walkway will begin on Wednesday. City Hall announced Tuesday that city crews will be working on the Fallon Alley Parklet starting Wednesday morning. The city said the work will take place between Jordan’s Alley and E. Main Street. Access to the Water Street parking lot may be limited as a closure is expected.
Additionally, a contractor will be milling and paving Fallon Alley on Oct. 25-26, during which time the alley will be closed.
The announcement came after City Council on Monday had rejected bids as too high for the rehabilitation project. A consultant, in recommending the rejection, suggested the city divide up the work among multiple contractors.
In June T-Mobile presented the city a $50,000 check towards improvements to the Fallon Alley pedestrian walkway. The alley will be resurfaced, and bench and bike racks added. The parklet area along Jordan’s Alley will see picnic tables, benches and planters, and a fence around the perimeter.
On the Main Street end, new technology there is to include a solar charging station for phones and a digital kiosk. Project contributors have included Fred Hoy’s drafting and design technology class from Keystone Central School District’s CTC program. Students Lydia Hallman, Kendall McCloskey and Robert Rupert created the CAD drawing and pulled together design ideas.
