City council gives okay to permit for new Veterans Park in Lock Haven
LOCK HAVEN, PA – City council Monday night wasted no time in approving a permit request for a new Veterans Park planned for the current site, across from the Clinton County Courthouse on E. Water Street.
Dave Harger, representing project developer Harger Utility Charities, asked council for release of the needed permit and council gave its unanimous approval.
Harger provided a project update, stating that needed materials have been ordered, most artwork is also ordered, and the park flagpoles are expected to be delivered on Tuesday. He said design work is almost completed; some minor modifications being carried out to “make things fit.”
As for the existing monuments at the park, Harger said, two of them will be moved to the county Piper Building for rededication and the Fort Reed monument will be relocated to adjacent to the courthouse. He said the World War II gazebo must be demolished due to its condition.
Unfortunately, he said, due to the continuing development process to this point, project developers won’t be to finish until next spring, hopefully by Memorial Day if everything goes well.
Plans for the revamped park had first been unveiled in August of 2021.
