Painting the town Christmas …

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Renovo thanks to a committee of people who are continuing Aaron Kelley’s project last year to decorate Renovo as an old fashioned Christmas scene. Aaron graduated from Bucktail Area High School last spring. He asked Pattie Rauch if she would try to continue the decorating and she and a group of area people are making it a new tradition in Renovo. The lights are up on poles along Huron Avenue. Rauch said Christmas Trees will be decorated at both the east and west ends of Renovo. The trees will be each decorated with about 1,600 lights.

Wear bright orange in these woods …

Bud Hallberg is known for various talents; singing, drumming, and story telling. But hunting isn’t one of them. At least it hasn’t been until now. Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true. . . but we’re hearing that he’s recently been heard to say he was up early the first day of bear season and out into the surrounding forests  to hunt for bear.   The day before he got his boat ready. is He hikes up the hill at Boggsy, and sights a bear early. It’s the story he’s telling folks, I don’t make this stuff up. He might make it up, but I’m only repeating rumors. Anyway, he supposedly pushes his kill down the mountain side with his foot. The he manages to load the bear in the boat, and rows back to his home side of the river. ed his boats and manages to get it into the boat. As of now, I hear his hunting is done for the year, the boat is in dry dock and hunting gear is stowed away.  We’re told he gives most of his game meat away because he’s not really all that fond of bear meat. Now I’m wondering if that orange fur hat he sports on cold snowy days used to live in a den in Bucktail Forest.

Carry identification in your purse …

Yvonne Woodring offers some good advice to women: Carry emergency contact information in your purse. She relates that a woman who was injured in an automobile accident was in the hospital two days before relatives were able to be informed. Her car overturned in the accident, and was on its roof. The woman was removed from the vehicle and transported to a hospital. She had contact information in her car but it wasn’t discovered immediately.
