LOCK HAVEN, PA – Grab your friends and a lawn chair and come on out to Lock Haven’s Triangle Park this Friday evening to listen to the Lockport Drifters perform, part of the City of Lock Haven’s 2022 Free Summer Concert Series.

Named for their favorite hangout on the west branch of the Susquehanna River, the Lockport Drifters is a three-member acoustic string band that plays a variety of musical styles from traditional bluegrass and old timey favorites to classic rock, country, folk, and gospel standards. Best known for their strong vocals and harmony, relaxed performance style and reverence for fun, the group also adds unique arrangements and instrumentals to their traditionally spirited music.

Formed in 2001, the band has many years of combined experience playing for diverse audiences in a variety of venues throughout central Pennsylvania. The band is comprised of Phil Reeder on Bass, Harmonica, and vocals, Dale Haines on guitar and vocals, and Phil Ponish on dobro, and vocals. Reeder, a popular local talent and artist has been playing the area since the late 60’s. He is currently a member of several area bands and is equally well known for his solo performances. Haines is a popular area guitar player known for his raucous vocals and humorous interaction with an audience. He and Reeder were former members of the Last Complete Show, a popular and award-winning traditional bluegrass band with both TV and radio credits that toured PA and New York throughout the 1980’s and early 90’s. Member Phil Ponish has made the rounds playing bass and guitar in several popular area bands, past and present, performing classic and contemporary rock and county, southern rock, jazz, and swing. His Dobro (resophonic guitar) and old time country voice give the band a distinctive sound.

The Lockport Drifters make their homes in Clinton and Center counties and can be heard locally at various venues in Lock Haven, surrounding areas.
