Clinton softball into state title game; 2-0 win on Saturday
INDIANA, PA – The Clinton 12 softball team is one win away from the state title! Manager Shawn Weaver’s team ground out a 2-0 win Saturday over North Pocono. The victory in the winners’ bracket final put Clinton into Monday’s 5:30 p.m. title game, opponent to be determined.
Camdyn Weaver was virtually unhittable Saturday, pitching a complete game 1-hitter. She faced 21 batters, struck out four and walked one; throwing 61 pitches, 48 for strikes. The Clinton defense was perfect behind her.
The Clinton offense put together the cleanly played contest’s only two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Maesyn Franquet had a double and a run scored, Camdyn Weaver a triple, a run scored and an RBI and Mallory Wunder had an RBI single. Clinton was held to four hits; the other was a single from Reagan Weaver.
Clinton has now outscored three opponents by a combined 26-4 score. Earlier wins were by 10-0 and 14-4 counts.
