Clinton 12s off to 2-0 start at state tourney
INDIANA, PA – Manager Shawn Weaver’s Clinton 12 softball team keeps rolling through the winners’ bracket at the state championship tourney being held in Indiana. After coming off a 10-0 Wednesday win over Mid-East Cochranton, the Clinton softball team on Thursday racked up a 14-4 win over West Suburban. The hit explosion continued for the hot hitting team, racking up 16 on the evening.
Clinton got started early scoring 2 in the first and 3 in the second. West Suburban tried to battle back in the third and fourth scoring 2 and 1. However the Clinton team continued their run in the fourth, fifth and sixth racking up 14 runs in all for the win.
Camdyn Weaver got things started for Clinton in the circle allowing 2 hits and 3 runs striking out two and walking three over three innings. Maesyn Franquet came into the game in relief allowing 1 hit and 1 run and striking out two and walking two over the 3 innings.
The Clinton team had the bats swinging on the night. Camdyn Weaver with four hits on the night, a double and 3 singles for five RBIs. Reagan Weaver tallied up three with a home run and two doubles and four runs batted in. Meanwhile Maesyn Franquet had three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. Doubles came from Leah Wein, and Karson Zidick and singles from Aubrey Miller, Payton Williams and Emily Motter.
Next up for Clinton is a Saturday game at 1 p.m. vs North Pocono.
