Clinton Senior Softball shuts out Lake Land, 10-0 in 6

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton Little League in Lock Haven is playing host to the 2022 PA Senior Girls Little League State Championships.
If Wednesday’s game was any indication, they are on a mission to capture the coveted title. A win Thursday in the Championship bracket would put them on the right path to do so.
Head Coach Kevin Tripp isn’t putting the cart before the horse as his team will face Levittown Thursday at 2 p.m. The affable coach was more than pleased with the ladies’ Wednesday afternoon as they cruised on a one-hit shutout by Adalynn McKeague- the hard-throwing righthander. And if they were awarding a game ball to the outstanding player in the game, McKeague would have been a unanimous selection. In addition to her one-hitter (a bunt single by Lake Land’s Kylie Stafford to lead off the 3rd), McKeague also recorded 12 of the 18 outs by strike-out. At the plate she went 3 for 3 with four RBI – three of those on a dinger over the LF fence in the 5th.
She had a solid supporting cast. Taylor Wahlers had a 2-for-4 afternoon (scoring two runs). Rylan Andrews was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base; Jacey Tripp was on base all three times at bat. She got aboard on an error in the 2nd and followed with and double in the 5th and a base knock in the 6th. She, too, scored twice. To add to the dominance, Mallory Etters, and Taylor Doyle each added singles.
Although the defense didn’t have many chances, Rylan Andrews sparkled at third and Chelsey Harrison made a fine running catch in left field.
Thursday’s opponent (Levittown) dominated in the top half of the bracket, downing Stroudsburg, 14-4.
In the early game, Lake Land had crushed Wellsboro, 16-0 in three innings. Wellsboro and Stroudsburg will square off in the losers’ bracket at noon Thursday with the winner taking on Lake Land at 4 p.m.
