Clinton softball hosts state senior Little League tournament starting Wednesday

Clinton Softball League President/Senior Manager Kevin Tripp works the concession stand for a Clinton 11-year-old game Tuesday evening.

LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton Little League will serve as the host league for the Pennsylvania Senior League state tournament starting at the Clinton Field on Wednesday. Five teams are participating, Clinton among them.

Games on Wednesday are scheduled for 12 noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The host Clinton team will play in the 4 o’clock contest. Other teams participating are from Wellsboro, Lakeland, Saegertown and Levittown. Clinton will draw the winner of the 12 noon game between Lakeland and Wellsboro.

The Clinton Manager is Kevin Tripp. He told therecord-online his team should be “very competitive…with a chance to do well.” He noted since there were no other senior teams at the local district and sectional level, the squad has only been able to practice, not compete in games to this point.

His 10-member squad, ranging in age from 13 to 16, includes Addy McKeague who was an all-state hurler for Central Mountain High School.

The games will be played at Taggart Park, 34 Myrtle Street in Lock Haven. The tourney will continue through Saturday. Wednesday’s 4 p.m. Clinton contest will be streamed on therecord-online.
