Clinton 12s romp in softball opener
LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Clinton 12 softball team was never headed Thursday evening, romping to a 16-1, three-inning win over visiting Williamsport Area.
Clinton rode the arm of pitcher Camdyn Weaver and the bat of shortstop Maesyn Franquet to the victory. Weaver was all but untouchable in the circle, putting up a three-inning no-hitter, allowing one unearned run in the process, while striking out six and walking three.
A 13-run first inning for Clinton pretty much sealed the outcome. Franquet led the offense with two doubles and two singles and scored three times on a 4-for-4 evening. Reagan Weaver and Camdyn Weaver each had a double and Karson Zidick a double and Aubrey Miller with a single and three RBIs. Clinton was aided by ten walks.
With the win Clinton moves into the winners’ bracket final in a three-team field. They are scheduled to play Hepburn on Friday at 5:45 p.m.
