WOODWARD TOWNSHIP, PA- Woodward Township Recreation Committee is once again planning Riverfest, the three day event taking place on the Lockport side of the river July 14-16.

Riverfest, which is in its 25th year this season, was first created in order to generate interest in the idea of Riverview Park.

“A Recreation Board was first created to help get the park going and established and that spawned the idea for Riverfest,” said committee-member Jennifer Hoy. “It has been ongoing ever since the late 90s.”
The three-day festival will take place at and around the Lockport Boat Launch area across the river from Lock Haven.

“Riverfest will once again offer live music entertainment, food, crafts, and the duck derby,” an information flyer states.

The Duck Derby is also another large draw to the event with the Derby taking place on Saturday, July 16.The price is $5/duck for a chance to win $1,000 total. “All funds raised go directly towards Riverview Park and the Lockport Boat Launch.”

One of the largest draws to the annual event is the fireworks display, happening on Saturday night, July 16 at 10pm.

Spaces are available, so vendors are still needed. Those interested in being a vendor are urged to contact Jennifer Hoy at 570-295-8742 or Kyle Coleman at 570-660-4791. “Each spot is approximately 12’ x 12’ and we have room for arts, crafts, games, and food vendors.”

“Unfortunately the cardboard boat races will not be taking place this year, but possibly next year as interest plays a large part in holding this fun event,” said Jennifer.
