CM softball pulls out wild win at DuBois, into PIAA tourney
DUBOIS, PA – It was a struggle early, the Central Mountain softball team falling behind by a 5-0 score after three innings at DuBois on Tuesday. But the Lady Wildcats stayed the course, scoring two runs in the fifth inning, three more in the sixth and what proved to be the game-winning run in the top of the seventh. And when Adalynn McKeague set down the Lady Beavers in order in the bottom of the seventh, Central Mountain headed home with a hard-earned 6-5 win.
The winning run came in the final inning when Caitlyn Watson was hit by a pitch with two outs. She advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a line-drive double from Allison Lininger.
The victory sends Central Mountain (20-2) in the first round of the PIAA Class 5A playoffs, scheduled to play the third-place team from the WPIAL (District 7) on Monday, June 6. DuBois finished 13-5.
