Loss is more than $2,000 in latest area scam

BLANCHARD, PA – A 68-year-old female from Liberty Street in Blanchard is out $2,011.90, the victim in the area’s latest theft by deception incident.

State police said the crime occurred on April 20. Their report said the victim attempted to call Amazon’s customer service and instead called a fraudulent number. The unknown actor(s) had the woman provide her bank account information and the caller then transferred the money to two American Express gift cards. Police in their report noted, “There is no solvability with this case.”
