Improved jobless numbers posted for Clinton County
LOCK HAVEN, PA – Clinton County’s jobless market improved slightly in March, according to information released Tuesday by the state Department of Labor & Industry.
The March 2022 rate was 5.0%, down from the 5.3% registered in February. The newest unemployment rate is the county’s lowest since the pandemic began in March 2020. The state estimates that 800 county residents were without a job in March, just below the 900 from the previous month. One year ago in March 2021, the unemployment rate was 6.9% with 1,200 people listed as unemployed.
For the week ending April 9, the state reported that 47 county residents filed for initial unemployment benefits. The continued claim number for the same week was 333, down from 647 listed one year ago.
Lycoming County had a 5.1% unemployment rate in March, and Centre County was at 3.5%. Montour County had the state’s lowest figure at 2.9%.
