Bellefonte woman victim in two-car crash on Route 64 in Walker Township, Centre County

WALKER TOWNSHIP, PA – A Bellefonte woman lost her life in a Friday afternoon rear-end crash on Route 64 in Walker Township, Centre County. Rockview state police identified the victim as Sherry L. Thompson, 47.

The driver of the second vehicle, James Ashpole, 54, from Howard was not injured, according to police.

Police said the crash occurred on a straight stretch of Route 64 at a turn-off onto Snydertown Road. Their report said the east-bound Ashpole vehicle slowed to a stop for oncoming traffic to make a left turn on to Snydertown Road and was struck from behind by the Thompson vehicle.

Police said the Thompson woman was taken by Life-Flight to UPMC Williamsport and pronounced deceased upon arrival by the coroner there. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt while Ashpole was.
