Sarah C. Higgins – Obituary
She worked at the Bass River Fish Market and evenings at the Meals on Wheels on Cape Cod and later in the Central Regional School District cafeteria until her retirement in 2006. A 1943 graduate of Toms River HS, she was a dressmaker and made all of her family’s clothing from slips to suits. She enjoyed making numerous holiday decorations, was prolific in crocheting and knitting and made many afghans and bed dolls for all her family & friends. She played bingo and followed Tiger Woods career and as an animal lover took in many strays including a potbellied pig.
She is predeceased by her parents, William & Florence (Finnefrock) Allen; a son, Gary C. Yamaji, three brothers, John C. Allen, Charles L. (Lindy) Allen and Gordon C. Allen, and one sister, Lillian Faye Gregory.
Surviving are her children, Donna L. Yamaji of Whiting, Cynthia J Yamaji-Glueck of Manchester, William A. Yamaji of Bayville, Sharon F. Weeks of Forked River, Debra K. Yamaji of Manchester, Ty Higgins of MA, and Jay Higgins of ME; sister, Dorothy H. Smith of Forked River; and 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
