BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP, PA – The state scholastic wrestling spotlight will be on the Central Mountain High School gymnasium this weekend: the annual King of the Mountain tournament on Friday and Saturday and the first-ever Queen of the Mountain tourney on Sunday.

The KoM will feature 32 teams from three states, including many top-ranked teams, among them the host Wildcats, #4 in the initial Pennsylvania Power AAA rankings. Wrestling will begin at 11 a.m. Friday and finish with the championship and consolation finals to begin at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday (all bouts will be streamed audio/video, on therecord-online, the one-time cost of viewing a $35 donation to the tourney sponsor the Central Mountain Wrestling Booster Club; viewing particulars can be found on therecord-online).

There are a number of standout teams at the event, in addition to the Wildcats. 11 of the 25 top-ranked AAA teams will be competing, along with six AA teams in the top 25. Top ten teams from AAA include Williamsport (#6), Canon-McMillan (#5), Greater Latrobe (#7), Hempfield (#8), and Seneca Valley (#10). #21 Bellefonte and #25 Mifflin County are two other District 6 AAA teams in the field.

Ranked AA teams include Burrell (#5), Chestnut Ridge (#6) and nearby Bald Eagle Area (#9).

This Sunday’s Queen of the Mountain Open will be part of a full day of wrestling in the Wildcat gym; there will also be the 2021 Mountain Man Junior Varsity Wrestling Tournament featuring both senior high and junior high divisions.
