State COVID case update

HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Sunday reported 6,091 new COVID-19 cases, a drop of more than 4,000 from the Friday figure of 10,127. The highest one-day amount during the pandemic in the state was 12,884 recorded Dec. 5, 2020.

4,106 COVID patients are hospitalized in the state, up 62 from Saturday. Those in intensive care on Sunday numbered 881, unchanged from Saturday.

Clinton County reported 49 new cases for a total of 6,212, the highest number of new cases in one day since 65 were recorded on Nov. 19. In Centre County 86 new cases were recorded for a total of 23,357. Lycoming County added 94 new cases for a total of 20,036.

The state Sunday reported 43 new deaths. The death count in Clinton County increased by one to 95.
