State COVID cases surge
HARRISBURG, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Wednesday reported 7,606 new COVID-19 cases, the highest one-day amount since March 27.
3,939 COVID patients are hospitalized in the state, up 63 from Tuesday and again the highest number since last spring. Those in intensive care on Wednesday numbered 858, a drop of 15 from Tuesday.
Clinton County reported 36 new cases for a total of 6,048, the most new cases in one day since 36 were recorded on Nov. 23. In Centre County 112 new cases were recorded for a total of 22,912. Lycoming County added 95 new cases for a total of 19,554.
The state Wednesday reported 100 new deaths. The death count in Clinton County increased by one to 92, for a total of four deaths over the last two days.
