2022 county budget due for unveiling Thursday

LOCK HAVEN – The Clinton County Commissioners will be unveiling a preliminary 2022 budget at their voting session on Thursday. Board chairman Miles Kessinger made the announcement at the commissioners’ work session on Monday.

Kessinger did not indicate what the proposed document might contain. He did say it will then be placed on display for public comment with final adoption scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 30.

A year ago at this time the county introduced a $41.3 million document for 2021; it kept the real estate millage at 6.2 mills. The county has had only one real estate tax increase since 2016. That came in 2019 for the 2020 fiscal year, the figure going from 6.0 to the current 6.2 mills.

Also at the work session on Monday Chief Clerk Jann Meyers said the commissioners will vote Thursday on a new 4-year contract with applicable correctional officers and maintenance personnel at the Clinton County Correctional Facility. She said a new pact with court-related personnel may also be ready for commissioner action at Thursday’s meeting. Any new pacts will be effective on Jan. 1 of the new year.
