LHU men’s soccer ranked #21 in United Soccer Coaches poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After closing the regular season on a seven-game winning streak, the Lock Haven University men’s soccer team jumped into the national rankings and claimed the No. 21 spot in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, after receiving votes in previous weeks.

For the Bald Eagles it marks a return to the polls for the first time since the 2007 preseason rankings, when The Haven sat at No 19.

This week’s poll is once again headlined by Young Harris College, who sits at No. 1 for the second-straight week. The top-five remained unchanged from a week ago as Palm Beach Atlantic University and Davis & Elkins College round out the top-three, while Franklin Pierce University and the University of Charleston sit fourth and fifth, respectively.

LHU closed the regular season in style and finished with a 13-2-2 overall record and a 10-1-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play. Lock Haven claimed the regular season PSAC Eastern Division championship, and the 13 wins for the Bald Eagles mark the most in a single-season since the 2007 season.

On Friday, the Bald Eagles will travel to Mercyhurst for the PSAC semifinals where they will face off against the No. 2 seed from the Western Division-Gannon University. The semifinal is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
